recently bought a truck and was able to get a remote for this system. however, i found a black box under my dash that has a single switch and a harness connected to it. if i unplug the box my truck will not start. i attempted to trace the wires and it appears it goes to a yellow (battery) and brown (not sure). the alarm could have remote start but after inspecting the brain, the harness it would use is not there. any ideas what it could be?
does not appear to do anything if i flip the switch. there are no markings on the box. i think its tied into the alarm only because if i unplug it and turn the key on and off it will sound a short burst from the siren...

Plug in the unit and test for two wires that go live on cranking, when you find them, cut and reconnect the the two together and off you go..

On a 2001 Silverado the yellow is the starter wire and brown is 2nd accessory. Are there 2 wires that connect to the yellow with it cut? It appears to be a starter kill of somesort since the truck wont start with it unplugged.
