remote start issues on 2006 honda pilot

I tried to install the xpresskit XK02 bypass module on a 2006 Honda Pilot over the weekend and am having a little bit of a problem. I’m hoping someone can help me. I hooked up the bypass module as directed in the manual I downloaded from the xpresskit web site. The remote start I’m using is the 4000-RS from slickcar.com. Brown is connected to GWR on the RS. Violet is connected to the brown data wire I found at the driver side fuse box. Violet/white is connected to the GREEN/ Orange wire found at the driver site fuse box. Green and blue wires are connected to the RS lock/unlock wires. (obviously, red and black are connected to power and ground) I also made sure I flashed the module with the correct firmware. Here’s what happens: Doors lock and unlock correctly. Security system is enabled and disabled correctly. The alarm system correctly detects open doors after it is armed. The only thing I can’t get to work is the remote start. When I first plugged the XK02 in, the light did not come on solid like the manual says it would.   It just started blinking the vehicle type (which I set correctly to type 2 for this vehicle). Here’s the steps from the manual: VEHICLE TYPE PROGRAMMING 1) Connect the module, LED comes ON solid. 2) Turn key to ON position. LED turns OFF, then it will begin a flash pattern that matches the vehicle type selection. (The default vehicle type selection is Type 1.) *If the module has been never been programmed or has been reset, LED will indicate which TYPE the module is in by the number of flashes. 3) To change the vehicle type, press and release the program button until LED flash pattern matches the selected vehicle type. LED flash pattern will match the Vehicle Type selected. Example: 1 flash = Type 1, 2 flashes = Type 2 and so on. 4) To save the vehicle type selection, press and hold the program button until the LED flashes rapidly. The module will then exit the programming. The module is now programmed.   *If LED comes on solid, turn the key to start the engine. *If the module has already been programmed, the number of flashes indicate the type programmed when applying power to module, one time only. Module is now ready to function. When I try to use the remote start, the accessories come on but the starter never engages. I tried to use the remote start with the key in the ignition but that didn’t work either. I went through the wiring on the RS and everything is hooked up correctly to the ignition and starter wires. What is the next step to figure out what’s going on with this? Thanks, Scott Scott Koskey

The fact that the Pilot won't remote start with a key in the ignition could indicate a wiring problem.  I am not familiar with the 4000-RS but does it have any type of error / fault indication with the failed remote start attempt ( LED or Parking Light flashes ) ?  Some remote start units must be Tach Learned prior to regular operation, etc.

The XK02 with HODL firmware is only a Door Lock module.  You will still need an actual engine immobilizer bypass module.  The PKALL, PKH34 or XK05 with PKH3 firmware are listed modules from DEI.
