remote start w/o shutdown timer?

Hey guys, im currently building a computer based entertainment system and control center for a wakeboarding boat. I want to include a touchscreen engine start feature. this isn't practical in a car; i know, but the stereo is normally on regardless of the engine status while we're wakeboarding or just hanging out.... now onto my question i was planning on using an old dei 551t remote start module i have and a pac audio tr-7 latching timed relay to give the pulse to start the engine then another pulse to simulated stepping on the brakes (to stop the engine) via a momentary switch. (there will be a physical switch as well as a computer controlled relay so that im not limited to starting the engine when the computer is on) then as i reviewed the installation manual i noticed that there is no way to override the timed shut off. ...so my question... is there a remote starter out there that doesn't have a timer feature? if not is there a work around for this? thanks in advance

After the watercraft has started what is required to keep the motor running (ie keeping 1 ignition circuit energized)? You will probably have to use the remote start module to actually crank the vehicle until it starts then use latching circuits to keep it running after the remote start times out.Kevin Pierson

Use a latching relay on the ignition, use another touchscreen input to turn it on. So after start, turn on ignition. Also you could make turning on the ignition disengage the remote start, with another relay to the brake shutdown wire.

thanks for the advice, the boat ignition is basically the same as a car's ignition. you have off, on and crank. i like the idea of having the remote start module to crank the engine. lets take the touchscreen out of the equation though. that is just auxiliary. the primary start and stop will be a pushbutton switch wired to the pac tr-7 (in order to make it like a momentary on-off-on switch) press it once and it'll pulse the remote starter's 'engine on' lead. press it a second time and it'll pulse the remote starter's brake wire. based on your suggestions. i'd just need to wire a latching relay to the lead that keeps the engine runnin. then to shut it off i'd use the second output pulse of the tr-7 to unlatch the relay (for lack of a better term) and also pulse the brake wire to make sure the remote starter is off and ready for the next cycle. i think. what current rating does the latching relay need to be?
