Hey guys I was looking into getting the alibaba st800 from dowontec/auto-innovatio for my 2000 silverado 1500. I'm looking to be able to use it completely keyless and the only way I can think of is to physically remove the steering wheel lock. Does anyone know where I can get a drawling of what the lock is like so I can remove it? Also is it wise to remove the lock or will it be easier to steel? Mind you I have a lift on the truck and 35" mud tires so without power steering and it's almost impossible to move those tires without the engine running.

All remote start units timeout after a preset time.  I am thinking that even the Alibaba unit will also shut down.

If you do remove the lock, REMOVE it, do not just move it out of the way.  That would not be good if it were to work it's way loose and fall back into place.

Yeah I wanted to completely remove it. So even if I were to remove it you think I would still need the key in the ignition to start the vehicle?

Not to start it, but if you want to drive it you will need a key.  There are usually 2 measures to keep someone from driving off with your truck are the brake wire connection which kills the motor if someone presses the brake pedal.  And secondly the 10 minute time out.

Ahh so there has to be some way to turn to the on position for it to work as a ful keyless system, correct?
I was reading the install manual and it says to use a broken off key in the cylinder but that would mean that anyone could come up and drive off with the truck no? It seems like it woul only work on a system like what ford has
