using aux battery for alarm backup

My truck has dual batteries, the aux is only used to run an invertor and I want to use that as a backup for my alarm. I have an isolator controled by a switch to seperate the batteries. Whats the best way to wire this up to still keep them seperate so one doesnt drain the other? If I place a diode in the alarm power wires from each battery would that be enough? I dont really know what size diode to use.

You need to transfer the alarm (power) to the aux battery.

That might be a good idea. Definetly easier to do.
