removing or disabling alarm

I have a 1996 jeep cherokee with an avital champion mark 2 alarm. This model: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=119545&KW=the12volt Now I have been getting a battery drain and am cleaning up the jeep. I have no need for this alarm and figured I would like to take this out of the equation. Either way I want it gone. So there are a ton of wires coming out of that box and I have no idea what to do with them.

Pretty simple, follow the wires and remove them.  Not much more to tell except you may need to reconnect the starter wire if it has a kill relay...Mike M2

How would I know if there is a kill relay?

Alarms do not drain battery , check if battery is ok. check the charging system.

Do a draw current check on your battery with a DMM set to amps, should be 40-60 milliamps. Then find and disconnect the alarm's power fuse, probably on a red wire, bet there's no difference. As the previous poster said, alarms don't drain the battery, only the LED drains and if you use that vehicle every 2 days or so, no difference. Bet the battery has had it or on vehicle of that age, a faulty door, tailgate or hood switch is the culprit.

Thanks, the battery is new. The alarm has two leds which have not been a problem in the past or probably isn't now. I will try to charge it and see if the lights stay on when doors are closed. I am also suspecting alternator. Can I just remove a fuse for the alarm?

Yes, on the red wire then see if it starts. If not then you will have a starter cut, either internally via the alarm or externally via a relay. Just solder together the two cut ends of the starter wire.
