Going to be lengthy but i really need the help. I am pretty handy with a wrench and stuff like that and i have put on some security features in the past on other vehicles including alarms, remote start and aftermarket actuators. I just got this truck and really want to take two days to make a super clean install, soldered connections etc. I have some questions though that i have searched and searched for and havent gotten answers. previously i just connected wires to wires dropped a fuse here and there and every thing was good.
I dont have keyless entry on my truck now and i do not have a programmed key so i dont think ill need a bypass, right? I have factory door locks. Will i have to run relays or can i just connect the alarm to the appropriate wires on the truck? Do i need diodes or resistors any where?
Its being installed on a 2003 dodge ram 3500 quad cab long bed 5.9 cummins diesel.
The alarm is the viper 791xv

If the plastic on the head of your key is black you do not need a bypass module. If it is grey you do need one.
When you say "I have factory door locks", I assume you are saying you have factory power door locks. The 791XV you have comes with a 451M, correct? That should include resistors in the package. If your truck does not have a factory alarm, you will need a 330ohm and a 820ohm resistor to control the factory power locks.   Unlock is a ground through the 330ohm and Lock is ground through the 820ohm. Since it does not have factory keyless entry, I would assume it does not have a factory alarm.
If you are going to use individual door triggers they will need to be diode isolated. Or use dome supervision wire for door trigger.
Also, the accessory circuits in your truck need to be ON during wait to start.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.
