2004 Silverado (base)
5901
XK01
The H3/2 RED / White and the H3/7 Pink/White are both hooked up to the white wire in the ignition harness that according to my chart is "Ignition 2".
I hooked up everything according to instructions compiled through months of research. I've been installing this set-up for 4 days now and everything was fine until I went to drive the truck for the first time. Today within the first mile of driving the check engine light came on. I made 2 stops, then came home. The second time I tried to leave my house, the auto transmission started acting weird when I'd hit the gas. I pulled back into my driveway and now I don't want to drive the truck. The check engine light stays on all the time whether remote starting or regular key starting.
The H3/2 RED / White and the H3/7 Pink/White were both hooked up to the white wire in the ignition harness that according to my chevy wiring diagram is "Ignition 2". I'm well aware of the warnings that if Ignition 2 isn't "powered", check engine lights and transmission problems are likely. I don't really know what "powered" means though. I don't understand why I'm having these problems if the truck is wired the way I did it. Using my DMM, I'm getting 12V on the white wire whenever the ignition is in the on position and while the engine is running. Another thing I don't understand is that the remote start and regular key start both start the engine as expected even when I disconnect both H3/2 and H3/7 from the white 2nd ignition wire.
Does anyone have good suggestions? I'm desperate.

H3/2 RED / White ( input ) goes to a +12V constant source.  It supplies the H3/7 Pink/White ( output ) with +12V during remote start operation for IGN2 ( as programmed by Menu 3, Item 8 ).

Time for 2 new Howard Laws
a) On a DEI system, connect every fused heavier gauge wire to a 12v+ constant.
b) All the wires at the ignition switch that show 12v+ at various positions of the key must be connected to the R/S.
Obeying those two simple rules and understanding the instructions, not the case for our poster would solve about 20% of the problems we encounter on this site.

Agreed, Howard's DEI Heavy Wire Law #1 and #2.

Compustar, of course, does not follow the DEI rules......

Another "brilliant" observation by Howard. Let's see here. A first-time DIY'er with zero prior installation experience decided to tackle one of the notoriously finicky and difficult projects in the auto accessory world. He gets 95% through the installation with success before his limited understanding of the terminology finally catches up with him. Then Howie II comes along and, rather than congratulate or help the DIY'er, Howie II proceeds to ridicule him for not knowing how to hook up the last 2 wires.
What exactly are these forums for if not to share useful information? Isn't the whole point of 12volt to help people? I began this project having never soldered two wires together in my life. I was determined not to start taking my truck apart until I had a step-by-step perfect plan for exactly what to do. In my quest for having the answer to every percievable question that may arise before I cut the first wire, it became clear to me that this would not happen. I had to jump in and get messy and get my answers as I went along. Everyone knows that the "instructions" you refer to are not intended to be clearly understood by a first-timer.
I'm quite proud of myself for making it this far. You can be condescending all you want, Howard, but you can't take this away from me.

Very good point but if you researched it PROPERLY for instance checking the archives here you would have seen this problem coming up ad nauseum, hence my comments.
