Hello all. I am trying to help a friend install a DEI 5701 remote start/car alarm in his 2008 Ford Edge. We have everything wired up, thanks to some helpful diagrams from the12volt, but we are having some issues with the door trigger wire. The 5701 will not allow us to go into the programming mode if it does not sense the doors are open.
The diagrams that we have found here are for a 2007 Edge and call for a (+) door trigger on the grey wire/purple tracker on the driver side kick panel. I have checked all the wires in the area, and I am not able to find the right wire that has +12VDC when the doors are open. Can anyone clear this up for me?
Many thanks!

Try the Smart Junction Box.  Plug C ( upper left corner ), Pin 14 should
be a 22 gauge GREEN/ Violet wire.  That is the Drivers Door Ajar trigger.
Think it is (-) when closed and open when the door is open.  Test with DMM.
Might need to change Viper Menu 1, Item 13 to Opt 2.
Soldering is fun!

Oh, that is quite a bit different than the wire color I found here for a 2007 Edge. Could you post the rest of the wiring diagram for a remote start install for the 2008? Is there a wire for Any Door ajar trigger?
I have seen a lot of references to the Smart Junction Box and different plugs (A,B,C, etc), but no one ever posts a diagram of where each plug is. Thanks for location description of plug C.

Here is a photo of the 2008 Edge / MKX SJB from the Ford Wiring Diagram Manual :

Use the (+)Dome Light wire.  It is a Gray/Purple 22 gauge wire at Plug A (14 Pin plug ), Pin 9.

I believe 2007 and 2008 are the same.  Here is a link to the DEI wiring info :  http://www.readyremote.com/main.asp?make=Ford&model=Edge  They list most of the wires with a location on the SJB but the SJB is in a tight spot for access.
