02 grand caravan

on a 2002 dodge grand caravan es with alarm where does everybody get 12v power for remote start? It shows a 10 amp gin wire. do people use that with a 10 amp fuse in the remote starter or go to the battery? Using compustar with the blade AL for sliding doors and everything.

I always go to the column, and I get rid of the two 30-amp fuses that come with the unit and put everything on a single 7.5-amp fuse. You definitely want your fuse to be smaller than the OEM fuse under the hood. That way, if your wiring job fails and shorts to ground, only your aftermarket fuse will blow, but the OEM fuse will remain good, allowing the car to be driven. If you're still worried about grabbing power at the ignition switch, there are some thick constant wires in the kick panel, and possibly at the BCM too. Much neater and easier than going out to the battery.
