clifford nightvision in a 71 beetle

Hi, so I'm wiring a Clifford Night Vision into a beetle and it's giving me a bit of a headache..

It mentions a white wire which as I understand it is something to do with wiring up the box to a car which the main lights only work with the ignition on?Has anyone wired one of these in and has anyone got a wiring diagram that shows how wire it up on a 1971 1302 bug please. I have read an old topic about it interrupting the voltage but I could do with a diagram so I can understand what i am supposed to do. The car is not on the road so I cannot just take it to someone to get it installed. Besides I like to do this stuff myself and learn as I go along.

The beetle is one of those cars that needs the ignition switch on to power the lights. I can work out the other idiosyncrasies of the beetle, just not this small issue.

I've got the diagram that shows how to wire it up on a standard car when the lighting switch is always live, but not for a beetle and I don't want to have any voltage feedback.

Yes I know it's a lazy mans device but I'm putting a fair bit of tech in a project I'm working on and it's a nice toy. I have already fitted electric windows and a sensor based solenoid door system that I have spec'd myself. But this one has me stumped for now.Thanks in advance, Andy.

I don't understand your problem simply cut the low beam wire and follow the instructions, white to switch side and RED / black to light side. This is a no brainer. If you want to double check, cut the low beam, either white or yellow at the switch or if separate terminals, pull the wire from the switch and see if the switch terminal goes directly to ground (earth) if not simply join the RED / black. Sorry I haven't played with one of these in 15 years. I think the last time I went near a 71 Beetle was in 73.
