Hi new member long time reader.... Love this site!.... Used it on many occasions

Well here is my problem... I bought a Viper 5101 to put on my Tahoe and it seems it is gonna be alot more complicated than my 1st install of a remote start..  I have only installed one remote start on a 1997 Jeep Cherokee... And added aftermarket actuators...

My questions are: After looking at the install diagram I have determined I have type A door locks, Does this mean I can just tap into the lock and unlock wires with the +12 volt from viper lock and unlock wires and not have to use relays?

Also there are 2 diagrams listed on vehicle wiring page for my vehicle, one has a 3rd ingnition....and 5 wire negative 1995 chevrolet tahoe 4dr 4x4 -- posted image. but it shows w/o keyless, and mine has it so...I am guessing I dont need to use that one...

I have seen a post( after doing a search) some has posted I need a relay on the ing2 wire or my truck wont shift into third....1995 chevrolet tahoe 4dr 4x4 -- posted image.

Also I would like to be able to pop my hatch with the aux on 5101...since it is power already will i need to hook a relay to the hatch release wire?

If you can help me with stuff like things to look out for and places I need to add a relay, I would be most thankfull.

I have a GM-1 T-harness I will be using on the install and I have 4 relays from an old install that was done on a old vehicle(not by me) and a 451m door relay module that came with the remote starter..

Thanks, I may have more questions later

Door Locks

Here is a note from DEI :
The 4 door models are positive trigger (type A), and the 2 door models are 5-wire (type C).
The DEI 451M module is the best way to go with either type, A or C.  The 451M install guide is available in the downloads section.

Ignition circuits

DEI lists this info :
12volts                           red +                                 ignition harness
Starter                            yellow or purple  +         ignition harness
Ignition                           pink  +                              ignition harness
Second Ignition           pink/white or white  +     ignition harness
Accessory                    orange  +                          ignition harness

Test to be sure.  The IGN2 wire must be powered.  Your Viper comes with the Flex Relay output, H3/6, default set to IGN2 so you should be good to go.

Trunk/Hatch Release

This info from DEI :
Trunk/Hatch Release      black +      release switch

The Viper's Trunk Release output is (-) so a relay will be required to change polarity for this connection.  There is a diagram for this polarity conversion in the relays section.

Yes, you will need only one relay for the Hatch Release.  The correct diagram to use is the (-)  input to

(+)  output conversion circuit.  Here is the link  :  https://www.the12volt.com/relays/page1.asp  While both diagrams are corrrect, the lower one is labeled more appropriately for your application.

The link you posted above is for the door locks and is what the DEI 451M will do for you if wired correctly.  Here is a link to the 451M Install Guide  :  https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=726   Use Diagram A.  Also note that the 15 Amp fused +12V connection can go to any +12V constant source capable of supplying the rated current required.
