Hi, I just bought the ProStart CT-3260 and am installing it in a manual 2004 Ford Focus. It is all wired in, including the transponder bypass, and I have the remote programed. I get to the part where I have to get the Tach signal and that is where I am having issues. I flash the hood, and press the brake (it is supposed to flash 4 times) before starting the car and let it idle. EXCEPT when I press the brake it flashes 5 times (which it is not suposed to do until it has found the tach signal) and it obviously hasnt found the tach signal becasue I haven't even started the car yet. I have the tach wire hooked to a fuel injector.
So very frustrated right now as I am so close to having it working.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you are not following the procedure correctly.
1)open up your hood or ground the hood pin wire.
2)start your car and let it reach the lowest idle.
3)at this point the parking lights stay on and when it senses tach it shuts off.
4) when the lights shut off, hold the brake pedal until the parking lights flash 5 times to store the setting.
5) turn off ign and try to RS.

Sorry The box said a CT 3260 yet the book says a CT3271.
I am following the directions right out of the book:
Multi-speed Tach Programming Procedure
1) Enter programming mode-the parking lights will stay on for up to 20 seconds
2) Before the lights go out, press and hold the brake pedal and press button 1 & 2 simultaniously -The parking lights will flash 4 times.
3) Release the brake pedal.
4) Start up the engine and allow the vehical to reach regular engine idle speed.
5) Once the engine is running at normal idle speed, press the brake pedal and keep it down until you hear the parking lights output click 5 times.
6) Release the brake pedal - the tach programming is now complete.
** my issue is the fact that once I hit buttons 1&2 at the same time the parking lights flash 5 times.

No I used the hood pin that came with the pro start and hooked it to the pro start. There is no factory hood pin on my car.

OK, that's fine, make sure your tach wire is connected to any injector wire with a black stripe.

I'm not sure if you got your problem fixed, but if I remember correctly, that year of Focus has no power to the brake if the ignition is off. This might be your problem.

Yes it's basically a British design and in Europe the brake switches are ignition controlled.
Attach a permanent feed to the R/S foot brake input for the first part of the set up.
