nano start, 2010 chevy traverse

Good day gentlemen. I'll start with a little back story so you understand where I'm coming from, then I'll ask the questions. I work for a company that recently had their Remote Tech quit to pursue other opportunities. I am fairly computer literate, so they decided to ask me if I wanted his position. Fully expecting to get remote start training, I accepted the position. Now here I am 1 year later with no training, a little 12v knowledge just from one season, and a whole heap of frustration because I just don't know everything about the industry that everyone expects me to know. Since I am in the position I am in, I will ask the question here because nobody else anywhere will help me. We recently had a customer bring in a Nano Start to put into a 2010 Chevy Traverse. I looked at the unit and noticed that it only has a single 10amp max 12v Input and no dedicated accessory wire. This 2010 Traverse has an accessory wire that needs to be hooked up. My question is, if we hook up all the (+) outputs that the remote start requires from the vehicle, will it blow the Nano Start main brain once the amount of current draw exceeds 10 amps from multiple circuits? Possibly start a fire?

you must be talking about the Fortin nano-start. cool unit and its ridiculously small. the point of this is to reducing wiring since this vehicle is databus controlled. you need a EVO All or EVOCAN unit to work with this system. you will w2w or d2d the 2 modules together, make basic connections at the ignition switch and you are done.Ted

make sure the nano start is Hardware: 1 Firmware: 10.08 minimum, if he has version 3 you are okay i would use the EVOCAN since its the cheaper of the 3 EVO modules. you are given start, ignition, and a programmable 3rd relay out. what you need is an additional acc and ignition. You can simply wire up 2relays(best). they are low current application MULTIPLEX.Ted

Thanks for the reply Tedmond, We had gone ahead with the wiring and everything worked. I guess we were just wondering if running the heater on full along with other accessories during remote start would exceed the 10amp max and blow the module. Do you think that could happen?

Also, what about vehicles like 2004 Dodge Rams that have multiple accessory, ignition, and starter wires?

i dont think it will draw up to 10 amps, the system is multiplex, so it powers up relays inside the vehicle. For multiple ignition/acc/start just use relays and make sure you have them powered off a high current source. 85 - ground when running 86 - acc/ign/start from unit 87 - constant 12v (high current source) 30 - to additional acc/ign/start wire.Ted
