I plan on putting a remote start on an 07kia spectra, but I am getting mixed info on a transponder bypass. Most of the books say that the car needs one (the type you leave a key in), but according to a bulliten on Idatalink's website:
"There's no Immobilizer system on Hyundai and Kia vehicles (with regular key) built for the U.S. market. Only RFID & Push to start vehicles are using transponder immobilizer systems.
There's no need for the TB-HK2 firmware for the Hyundai/Kia vehicles sold in the U.S."
The keys do not appear to have any kind of chip or anything in them and I was certain that there was no bypass needed on this car before I started reading. Does anyone know for sure?

The only kias I've done which have chip keys are the newer sedonas, borregos and amantis   unless they have been push starts. All the spectras I've done havent had chip keys
