HI Folks,

I recently installed the viper 5904 and DBALL module on my 09 honda odyssey.  Everything works great so far except there has been a few times where the remote start doesn't work well enough, it starts but just doesn't have that extra juice to turn it over.  At first, i didn't connect the tach wire, as the DBALL states it handles the tach.  I would say 1 out of 10 times, the remote start would just sputter and not turn it over, i would get an error message of 'low tach' on the remote.

So yesterday, i ran the tach wire from the injector and connected it to the viper 5904.  Again, after 10 tries, it failed on me and i got the 'low tach' error message again, clearly cuz the engine failed to start.  My question would be how does the viper know to use the tach wire connection and not the DBALL tach output?

Try letting the RPM's level out a bit and wait til the 4ish second mark before programming the tach. Sometimes the car will have a high idle immediately after starting and it can cause a false tach sense.

ugh, i think the issue is that I have the dball in D2D mode, which is handy, but i think it is taking care of the tach.  Looks like i will have to go wire to wire.  Unless someone can tell me a way of making the remote starter use the wire tach and not the dball?

Try disconnecting the DB-ALL, hooking up tach directly to the car, program it, then reconnect te DB-ALL. I'm not 100% sure if that will work or not. Either way, W2W is always a better, more reliable setup.

Just an update for anyone that might face a similar problem like mine.

I decided to drop the D2D and wire everything.  It was the only way to ensure the tach wire i hooked up was being used by the viper.  It would be nice if DEI would make a D2D + tach wire option.

So, I thought going W2W woudl solve my issues in regards to the van not starting on some occassions. But even with W2W and the tach wire hooked into the injection, the van continued to fail every so often.  I looked at the wiring diagrams on the net.  On this site, looking up the 09 Honda Odyssey wiring, it does not mention the Accessory 2.  However bulldog and audiovox lists the Accessory 2.  I decided to cut my accessory 2 connection, and it has been working fine ever since, knock on wood.  I guess it was too much on the battery to start up my navi/dvd?

majority of cars only use acc2 for radio so its not needed on your specific vehicle.
in canadian weather you should have a good battery at all times. have it checked out at parts source or napa.

Yea, it should not have been a problem powering all of the accessories. How did you have the acc2 connected? Was it through a relay or jumpered to acc1?

I had it connected to the H3/& Pink/White (30) Flex relay output, then programmed it to be Accessory2.  It would start the majority of the time, but 1 in 10 times it would fail, it just didn't have enough juice to turn it over. I would come out and start the car with the key, on the first shot.

With the original setup, when i was getting low tach signal, for kicks, i had switched it to virtual tach, and the few times it failed, i actually got a low battery signal.

I am hoping this sticks, haven't had a fail since disconnecting that acc2.

Hey guys,

I just realized that going W2W, i have lost DBALL feature: FOB-Control of aftermarket alarm with OEM remote.  Is there an easy way of getting that back?
