I'm using a Viper 5501 remote start only. Which viper output provides a signal when the remote starter is engaged? I have a custom circuit I'm wanting to run only when the remote start is "active".
I see there is a 2nd Status output, but that appears to only signal when the car start process begins (not necessarily when the car is successfully started).

The status output and 2nd status output should both show ground (200ma only) while the vehicle is running under remote start.

Thanks for the reply kenny. The install guide says this about the status outputs:
"This wire supplies an output as soon as the module begins the remote start process"
Is this incorrect and the output actually grounds after the start has succeeded?

No, it sends a (-) 200ma output before the remote start process and maintains the output while the remote starter is engaged. It will only shut down down the remote starter shuts down (brake pedal input, hood pin input, etc)

Having said that assuming a gasoline engine why not run a signal off the status output with a 5 second delay, which will tell you "should" be running rather than actually running.

Thanks for the responses. So I'll plan to use the status line and execute a delay. That should work for what I want to do.

you can use the second status output BLUE/WHITE, set it for Defogger latched.
this output will turn on 15seconds after it has been remote started.

Doesn't this mode also have an off timer? I think it turns off after 10 minutes.

it can be pulsed or latched for 10 min, constant on until starter shuts down.
