I installed a viper 5902 on my 5 speed 300zx. I ran the wore to the factory neutral saftey switch. So my car will not start in gear and will turn off when put in gear. I want help with how i can also put a wire to my ebrake so it turns off when put down. The only idea i had was to rigg a momentary switch the when release would connect the ebrake to the neutral safety ground so both will need to be engaged to start and both will cut the car off.

Thanks for the help!!

It's this easy, all you need are a pair of 1N4004 diodes, done it on my own Nissan.

Although that method works, you are better off (and safer) to get a unit designed for a manual transmission. Then even if you have a nss failure you and nearby people will be protected against the vehicle starting in gear

Kenny, simply not true, It can't start in gear. I've had it on the my current vehicle for 9 months and it works perfectly. Who needs manual start reservation, it's much safer in fact foolproof.

hey thanks for the help. I didnt see your message till now so i did it another way. I used a lever switch and drilled two holes by the ebrake and attached it. From there i wireded the neutral saftey wire to that and another one leading to the neutral safety switch. That way no matter what the car has to be in neutral with the e brake up. and if one of them is not active it wont start. it will also kill the engine if one is touched.

On another note do you know how to wire the rear defrosted into this alarm. I have a 300zx and behind the control pod i think there is one thick wire for the defroster.

Thank!!

Somewhat over the top!
There's an existing ebrake wire, at the base of the ebrake!
Also engine management ECU for the NSS.
Haven't a clue.
Check at the rear where the looms go for the hatch see if it's the same then:-
Cut that wire after verifying it's the one.
Car side to 30
Switch side to 87a
Aux from R/S set as timed for 10 minutes to 85
Constant fused 30 amps to 87 and 86.

I have to disagree. It is an electrical connection that can fail. And if I'm not mistaken, I believe that most factory neutral safety swtiches are designed to fail open so that if it were to fail it would not leave the owner stranded. Therefore, if the switch were to fail, you would not know until it was too late.
Granted that is a 1 in a million chance that both you left it in gear and the switch failed, but it is a possibility. With the reservation mode it is relying on a mechanical safety instead of an electrical.
With that said, I have the same exact setup in my Subaru... I used the factory neutral safety switch so I didn't have to deal with reservation mode, but I test my switch weekly to ensure it is working properly.

Kenny the NSS on these vehicle sits on ground and technically it IS mechanical at the gearbox. Yes if it fails it will go open circuit (no connection) thus no R/S.

Having said all the above, let's agree to disagree!
Yes I always make sure I'm in neutral but that's like me arguing with the customer who wants passive arm and lock who swears they will never leave the keys in the car....right.

Yea, I only did it that way on mine because I never leave it in gear and in the rare chance I do, the nss will prevent the start... but I never trust it 100% which is why I test it weekly. As far as cars I do, I will only install the manual transmission starters in manual cars... don't want to take the chance.
