Hi All,
I am looking for a little help on an alarm install with remote start... I have a 2010 Dodge Dakota Big horn crew cab truck... and am looking for any information that will assist with the install of a Clarion/Ungo/DEI sr5000. Specifically the wiring to the vehicle... This truck does not have the chip in the fob, so, my other question is does it need any bypass or otherwise any type modules? I know with the on board computer a lot of things are done by way of resisters and finding anyone that has done this type of vehicle would be great to here from.
Thanks

A 2010 without a transponder? Are you sure about that? How did you determine it does not have a chip in it? I can't recall one that new that didn't have a transponder. If you post a picture of the circuit board in the remote it would allow us to determine if it does or does not have that chip.
I would suggest picking up a ADS-AL-CA ( www.idatalink.com) flashed for your vehicle. It will do door locks, alarm, handle the MUX circuit, transponder bypass, etc.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

Thanks for the response! I was first confused, and then purchased a key blank from a random key shop... I then was able to start the vehicle without the original key present or in close proximity.... I called the dealer, and was told the my vehicle did not have the transponder key when they searched for the part ($50 as opposed to $180 - $200). It was not scientific, but, it made sense...
Again, Thanks for the quick response.

If you don't mind paying a little extra for the bypass, pick up an EVO-CHR with the T-Harness (I believe its the CHR2 but check first). It will turn your install into about a 10 minute install. A few quick connections between the remote start and the bypass, then 12v to the battery, ground to the chassis, and a quick parking light connection and you are done. I did a 2010 caliber in about 30 minutes including prep, disassembly, install, and reassembly. If you haven't picked up the starter yet you can get the all in one Fortin bypass that will eliminate the need for the remote starter. You have the option of running it off the factory remote as it comes (lock 3 times) or you can add a compustar antenna/remote kit and extend the range / options.

Thanks for the reply! These have been helpful responses... These units, are most mail ordered, or could you pick one up at say Fry's Electronics, Best Buy, Al & Ed's?? (Probably too much money)... I will check it out on the web and probably order one there.
Thanks!

After a little guidance from here, and a little research... I have decided on the XpressKit DB-ALL and XKLoader2. I think with these two items, I can complete my install and move forward to other projects (i.e. Second Battery, and Accessories).
Thanks to all who responded, and I hope these few entries helps someone else in need.
