I spoke to a tech at Compustar and he said that I could connect the MB211 Mercedes DC to a Compustar CM6000 Remote Start Alarm with the serial data cable just like a DroneMobile would connect. Well I bought a 2way Compustar RF Kit and a CM6000 RS/Alarm Control Module and they will not communicate.
I found instructions on how to connect them together for the Mercedes Sprinter but that does not seem to work with my 2006 Mercedes C230. The Sprinter Manual says to turn off tach sensing on the CM6000 and swap the RX and TX wires on one end of the serial cable so they can communicate. I can hook my RF kit to the Mercedes DC and it works fine as a range extender but wont control the CM6000 through serial.
I can also connect the RF Kit to the CM6000 with the DC connected over serial and can control the CM6000 but the Mercedes DC wont accept commands. I can see communication happening because when I have the RF kit connected to the CM6000 and the DC by serial, the DC's LEDs goes solid every time I send a command to the CM6000 from the RF kit. So I know the DC is seeing data from the CM6000, but why wont they communicate properly? I know they have a solution for the Mercedes Sprinter because its install manual explains it. I see there is a different jumper on the Sprinter's DC board that disables/enables the parking light flash so that you can let the CM6000 control the parking lights. Other than that the Sprinter's board looks the same as my MB211 DC. Is it as simple as soldering a jumper to my DC's board??
Could someone please help if there is a fix or if not how can I connect the CM6000 to the Mercedes DC so the CM6000 can trigger the remote start. If I have to guess I can use a separate CAN interface module for the triggers and outputs if necessary and leave the DC standalone, but that is very messy. I have tried switching the bypass type on the CM6000 from Idatalink to Fortin with no luck as well. Any info is appreciated. Thanks..
