power door lock recommendation

 I want to install power door locks as part of a re build project on a 1983 D-150. It is a two door so and I am likly going to install a single actuating switch towards the center of the dash to lock and un lock both doors,,

looking at universal kits on line,, seen then as cheap as 31.95 on Amazon

I don't mind paying for good quality,, but I don't want to just throw $ away either,,I have also seen kits on the internet for almost 200.00

1) any recommendations?

2) also do I need to select anything special for the power door lock system, if I want to also wire in an alarm,, There was an older viper unit on the truck and I plan to re install it.

3) and a back to the added dash switch,, can that be done with a Central Locking unit?

I bought a universal keyless entry kit for my work van, (company is kind of anal about locking the van but won't buy a vehicle with power locks) But I digress.

Bought it on E-Bay, (sorry Howie), for about 32 bucks. Been working fine for three years now, even intergrated it into my Viper 5701 system via a 451m.

I lock/unlock this truck 20-35 times a day.   Biggest tip is to secure the accuators soildly to the door.  I didn't on the side door and back door of the van and had to redo them as the accuator would flex away and not pull the rod is a straight line.  It was my first lock install, so I learned. Did much better on other installs. 

Bolt the accuators solidly and bend the rod to match the pull of the lock rod.  Anyway, thats my experience and two cents.

Hello,, late last summer I had put up a post asking about powered door locks,,

thanks for the info,, I have some free time coming the next couple of weeks so I got back to the shopping process..

I ended up going with the A1 Electronics W01F-74OT, which is a MES Central Lock with a 3100 Avilatar alarm,, the claimed regular price is 168,, on sale fpr 134 and currently offfered with a 5% disciunt and free shipping,, so going for 128,,, seemed like a good deal, so I went for it.  Having an integrated alarm will certainly save me some install figuring and time. I am pretty good mechanically,, working on figuring out electronics,, I'll post back on how the install went..
