I was hoping everyone could help me out with this issue, I am trying to get things straight in my head. A few years ago I wired in a Avital Avistart 4103 into my old car, tons and tons of wire splicing but it worked amazing. I took it out and I wanted to put it in my new car, a 2006 jeep grand cherokee, no immobilizer and but it has a factory alarm system i believe. I am discovering all new things on the internet and I want someone to correct me if I am wrong
Looking around on the internet I discovered the smartstart module which would allow me to use my iphone as a remote. It seems there is a Directed DSM200 which is compatible with my Avistart 4103.
I also discovered xpresskit DBALL, omega link OL-MBD-ALL, idatalink, etc. which would connect to the car's computer. I am not sure which one to get, so I would appreciate help with that. Also, it seems it is important to get the T-harness for my car which would eliminate most of the wire splicing. Is this all true?
It seems like 3 items are necessary in this installation. The remote starter, the smartstart module, and the databus module. Is this correct? Is it really necessary to have all 3 boxes or is there a solution which can require less?
Lastly, do all the smartstart remote starter complete systems basically just include a remote starter and a smart start module which plugs into the remote starter?
Thanks
tommy...

You should have a chipped Key/Immobilier system in that car. Thats one thing the DBALL is doing. You can buy just the SmartStart module. So, Yes, 3 things are needed. You said you have the 4103. Now just the Bypass and Smart-Start module.
