avital 3100 with 508d sensor

I had the guys at best buy install the 3100 Avital in my 2003 ford e350 work van. The shock sensor dosent work on the back end of the van. So they suggested getting the 508 D motion sensor. Is this hard to install? Id like to do it my self if possible. Im looking for i diagram on how this should be wired. Thanks in advance

A 508d is a waste of time in the back of a work van.(Metal body blocks the signal). A single zone would be better but then surely they connected the alarm to side and rear doors. If they didn't they haven't done a decent job because that would be sufficient.

I agree with Howie as well. I would test all the doors to ensure Best Buy connected everything properly. I don't really favor the 508D or even shock sensors for that matter. I think shock sensors are a waste of time. Sure they detect any hits to the vehicle, but they can trigger false alarms or not cover the whole vehicle unless set to very sensitive. I personally prefer a glass breakage sensor (if anything at all). Depending how sensitive a shock sensor is set, it may trigger a false alarm during a thunderstorm or if someone drives by playing music with heavy bass, whereas a glass breakage sensor is tuned to the sound of a window breaking regardless of whether it's the front or rear windows and less likely to give false alerts. Aside from the metal walls and doors blocking the signal, a 508D can false if a person or even a large animal (dog, bear, etc) walks by your vehicle and doesn't actually break into it.

My main concern was someone climbing on the back of my van and trying to steal my ladders. I was going to place the 508d towards the back to cover the back door area. I checked all the doors and they are in sync with the alarm they all work correctly. I ordered the 508d last nite from ebay for 28 bucks free shipping so i jumped on it and bought it.

any diagrams or instruction on how to connect the 508d to avital 3100?

The Avital 3100 has a blue multiplex (-) trigger input wire that is usually used for the trunk trigger. You will use that wire to connect the trigger outputs from the 508D. The red wire is connected to 12v constant. The black wire goes to the orange (Ground when armed) wire of the 3100. The green and blue wires get twisted together and connected to the blue multiplex wire of the 3100. The green wire of the 508D is the "warn away" (1st stage) and the blue wire of the 508D is the instant trigger (2nd stage)output. If that blue wire on the 3100 is being used for the trunk trigger, I would suggest diode isolating the 508D wires before connecting them to the blue trigger wire on the alarm. Hope that helps!
