Hello all, I bought a dball and a smartstart module dsm200. I installed it today and was able to activate it through the dei website. All the status lights are on correctly on the smartstart. Dball setup went just like the instructions said it would. However, when I activated it on the website, it allowed me to test the smartstart. The smartstart was not working. I have a hunch that the incorrect firmware is on the dball. But now I'm thinking I didn't configure something correctly during the testing phase, and i now exited the browser and cant go back. Did I maybe configure something incorrectly? It didnt seem like there were any options I just quickly went through and activated it. Using my iphone, the smartstart gets the signal and my phone tells me the signal was recieved by the smartstart. Did I need to configure the smartstart for D2D? I think I just have the wrong firmware on the dball because pressing the lock on the remote 3 times doesnt start up the car either...

What vehicle did you install it in? year, make and model?
The SmartStart usually needs to go D2D to the DB-ALL first and then plug in the 10-pin, 12-pin and finally the 14-pin harness (which is the one that powers the DB-ALL and the SmartStart unit). Once they are both powered, you can program the DB-ALL for your vehicle.
If you plug in the SmartStart any other way or do it after the DB-ALL is powered up, the DB-ALL may not recognize that you have the SmartStart unit there.
Also, if you can't start the car with the 3x Lock presses, most likely the DB-ALL wasn't programmed correctly or the firmware is incorrect (or both).

Its a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. I plugged in the smartstart before I powered it up like you said, and then I programmed the dball. I also reset the dball, and then tried again with the same results. I think the firmware is incorrect so now I'm going to try fixing that. Thank you for your response, I will tell you what happens!
