Has anyone installed a remote start in a 2012 Ford Edge, No factory alarm, No Push to Start. Also any recommendations on a bypass.

Probably a Clifford 20.7x for the RS.

Thanks

Haven't done a 2012 Edge.

Does it have an "SA" stamped key?  If yes, it could be an 80 bit system.  There is a test you can do to see if it's 40 bit or 80 bit.  The Fortin EVO-Ride can do either.  Here is a link to the EVO-RIDE install guide : https://ifar.ca/download/4331/preview.html  See Page 5, Connection 3 for test procedure.  You will need two working non-clone keys to program.

Yes it has SA stamped on the key. I forgot to include that bit of info. Already read the testing for 80 bit or 40 bit keys.

I looked at the install guides for the DB-ALL, EVO-RIDE and the iDataLink info. Kinda like the DB-ALL as it looks like a lot of the connections are from the remote start to the bybass. Similar to the Equinox I did last week. As I look at it, the EVO-RIDE is for the bypass only correct? No door locks, tach, ect? as it looks like on the DB-ALL.  Might sound like a stupid question, but just trying to understand and learn the differences between the modules.  Some are just bypass and some handel much more.

Probably won't do this one for a couple of weeks.

Yes, the EVO-Ride will only do the transponder bypass.  It equates to the DEI PKTX module.  The DB-ALL is a full

function module in this application.  Bypass modules are a very challenging part of the install.  They are being
updated constantly with firmware and changes to their install wiring and capabilities.  There are some modules
that only do the ignition immobilizer function ( EVO-Ride, PKTX, ADS TB, PKALL, etc ) and there are others that
do bypass and other functions with one firmware and only bypass with another firmware ( 2010 Camry with ADS AL-CA
flashed with ADS AL(TB)-TL will only do the bypass while the same ADS AL-CA flashed with ADS AL(DL)-TL1 is a
full function module.)

It gets even more complicated when you add in the D2D communication modes ( DEI DBI D2D, ADS iDatalink and Fortin

Data-Link ).  Fortunately, W2W is supported by most all bypass modules and always works well.  However, with DEI DBI
D2D there are some functions that are only available with a D2D connection.  Then there is the remote starters D2D
capabilities ( 1 way or 2 way ).  Gives me a headache...

The bench prep looks good.  2012 ford edge info -- posted image.   Of course be ready with some aspirin if you are making connections at the SJB.

Haven't done a 2012 Edge but the earlier ones were tough.  They really tucked the SJB up in the DPK / firewall corner.
Grouping the wires by where they will go is great but sometimes you have to actually see the vehicle and locate the
wires before you know for sure.  Especially if you end up locating the brain some place distant and have to extend
some wires.  ( If you worked at a dealership, after the first one, the rest would be cake.)

Kreg, Thanks for the info on having some asprin on hand as I plan on going to the BCM in the drivers kick panel. How early were the ones you have done?  Might be time to hit up wirecolor.com for some photos.

The Edge's were 2007's and 2008's.  Used a DEI 1100F bypass ( ADS TB FM ) for the bypass and went hardwire on the
rest.  They were all regular 40 Bit keys and no alarm.  They have made some changes on them.  I have the 2008 Edge /
MKX Wiring Diagrams manual so it wasn't too bad to locate the wires but looking at Ready Remote, some  SJB plugs have
less pins and some wires have changed color.  You can find the wires in the DKP harnesses instead of the SJB but
it takes some time going thru the bundles.  Fortin WireColor even lists a different number of pictures and wires
for the 2011 - 2012's.
