Well decided to try an EBay special namely a 105.00 car starter alarm combo because of the features. And while it all looked well and good in the ad but here are a few points to ponder before buying one of these systems.

The Ebay company has ignored my emails asking for help but at least Carvox has a US connection.

http://www.carvox.us/

A few of the systems are 990,999,2300, X6-A.

Now I did pay 250.00 for it to be installed at a Alarm Shop but when I picked up my 2007 Toyota FJ the experience was nothing my friend when he picked up his 2011 Lexus with the Compustar that was installed.

The Compustar programmed up from a PC super accurate and fast not so with my Carvox. :(

The features included proximatity sensor for auto door locks and auto arm and a reported 9000' range.

The range is nowhere near 9000' even with 2 antennas and 433mhz frequency but it is not bad and love the 2 way pager option.

Pointers:

1. Turn off the prox open/close feature as it just messes things up opening and closing this is just not perfected.

2. Turn off all the auto lock features once again causes all kinds of false alarms when arming.

3. Tach the unit how to learn the tach input by starting the car, letting it idle, and press the valt button 5 times until the horn beeps.

4. Remember to save all brain programming form the remote (oh yes you have to do all the programming from little remote icons and do it quick (20 secs) or it kicks you out) by pressing unlock button.

5. For an auto trans gas car I set "01" (ON)  for the following 1-17/18 system options:

1, 2, 3,4,5,6,7,10,11, 12,13,14,15,16,17

8,9, set to "02" (OFF).

As well if your domelight stays on for 20 -30 secs like my FJ you cannot arm the alarm or the siren goes off.

If you try to use to the remote starter I set the crank time to 1.2 secs I would think the tackwire input would overide that need so try it with the default of .6 or 1.2 secs.

If you try to do the * unlock to start the car then try * unlock key to kill the engine the dome lightgoes on and the alarm goes off.

Could not figure why every 3 hours the remote would beep then 15 minutes beep again? Turned out the little exhaust icon was flashing which meant the car starter would start every 3 hours for 24 hours.

So at point for the cheap price it is pretty good but a programming nightmare due to the manual compared to say a Compustar.

I did buy another remote for 40.00 as I like the larger display so now I have 3 LCD color backlit remotes. Will also be buying another brain as the are like 25.00. :)

Time will tell if it works for any period of time or starts below -40.

Here are some features, lots for 100.00 and many of these systems do not say Carvox but are made by them.

Hope this help a few as I have spent 2 weeks messing with this system but for 350.00 instaed of 650.00 I will give her a try.

After months of telling myself I can get the Carvox to work I finally decided to put it in the best place.

BEWARE of buying these poorly designed/supported systems.
