Hello everyone, I just had a quick question. I installed this remote start in my Expedition over the weekend, and it's working flawlessly, but I can't seem to access the programming menu. I only want to change the amount of time before it will shutdown from 12 to 24. It's not a huge deal, and I'm certainly not going to go tear into wires to troubleshoot the problem, but I was wondering if anyone might be able to point out what I'm doing wrong, if anything.
From what I understand in the installation manual, and from various posts on the forums, the steps should be as follows:
1. Open the door
2. Ignition on (my installation manual tells me to leave the ignition on, but I've tried both leaving it on, and turning it on and off)
3. Hold the valet button; listen for chirps to see which menu you're in.
This is the part that I'm getting hung up on. No matter how long I hold the valet, I never hear a chirp from my car. My remote will chirp saying that the car is trying to talk to the remote, but I can never access the menu's. I know the siren is working (chirps when I arm/disarm the alarm), so I'm not exactly sure what's going on. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

Make sure the green door trigger wire is grounded.

That's confusing. I have a + door trigger, and there's a splice in the actual door trigger wire to ground, so I only hooked up the Violet wire to the door trigger wire. Are you saying that I need to hook up both the + and - door trigger wires? I figured since I have a + door lock, I only needed to hook up the Violet wire.

I found that with the UK versions programming didn't work with the POS (+) door trigger (NOT LOCK BY THE WAY) so it's worth a try.
Or try and borrow a Bitwriter.

I'll give it a try when I get some spare time. Unfortunately, I don't have any friends with a Bitwriter, and I'm definitely not dropping $70 on one, lol. I mostly just wanted to confirm that I am actually doing the steps right, because the manual was a little vague. Thanks for the help.

For most DEI systems that have a door trigger wire, (doesn't matter if using the + or - trigger), you open the door, then turn the ignition on and then off. Then press and hold the valet button. The horn/siren will chirp for each Menu you want to access.
For example, if you want Menu 1, you would press it and hold it until the horn/siren chirps once then release the valet button. If you needed Menu 2, you would keep holding the valet button after the first chirp of Menu 1 and wait for a second chirp for Menu 2, then let go of the button. Once in the menu, you would press and release the valet button the number of times for the feature you want to program.
Then use the remote lock or unlock button to program the feature. If it's a simple on or off, pressing lock will light the LED and unlock will turn it off. If it's a feature with more than one option, each press of the unlock will flash the LED the number of times for that feature option.
If you want to go to the next feature from that same menu, you would just press the valet button the number of times extra it would take to get from the current feature to the next feature. So if you were programming feature 3 and wanted to change feature 8 also, you would only press the button 5 more times and release it. The LED also blinks back the number of times for that feature.
You only have a 15 second window for programming. Once you are done programming, you can either wait 15 seconds for programming to end or turn the key on and back off again. The siren chirps one long tone to let you know programming is over.
In your case, to change the 12 min to 24, you would go to Menu 3, Feature 2, Option 2.   Open door, turn key on and off, press and hold valet button until siren/horn chirps 3 times then release. Press and release the valet button 2 times and the LED should be flashing 2 times. Press unlock once and LED should start flashing 2 times again.   Finally, turn the key on and off again to end programming. Siren chirps one long tone and you're done. python 5303p 2004 ford expedition program -- posted image.
