Hello! I recently purchased a 2000 Honda CR-V with remote start already installed. From what the remote on the key chain says, it's a "DEI- Your Valet" remote start. Anyway...when I purchased the vehicle the remote start was fine. I had to buy a new battery and after I installed the battery, when I use the remote start, the parking lights AND the dash lights flash continuously (but slowly) while started. Even when I get in the vehicle and turn the key to the "on" position. The only way to get it to stop is to hit the "start" buttons on the remote to kill the vehicle and then restart it with my actual key. I assume there is some sort of "reset" or "reprogramming" needed since I changed the battery? If that is the case, how do I do that. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank You!!!

welcome to the board!!

your remote start is working propely. it can flash or leave the parking/dash lights on continous. that lets you know from a distance that its running.

when you turn the key on it dont know that you have done so.

do this, remote start it and get in and turn the key on. now hit the brake.

if the parking lights go off and the car stays running things are alright.

if the STILL flash then there may be some soft of problem.

can you see the remote start module behind the dash or anywhere?

try to find the model number and if you desire we can help you change it to constant output.

How many buttons does your remote have?

what is the model number in small print on the back of the remote?

did the lights just stay constant before you needed the new battery?

was the new battery for the remote or the honda?

First of all, thank you for the greeting!!! Very happy to be a part of such an informative forum! To answer your question, I have NOT checked for the module behind the dash yet. Was waiting to see what I should try before I did anything. Also...I have 2 buttons on the remote. The model number on the back of it is RPN471T . I will try your suggestion with the brake first thing tomorrow morning and post the result. Thank you VERY much!!!

Sorry! Didn't see this before posting my last response. I THOUGHT the lights were constant before the battery change but I couln't swear to it. It was the first day I had the vehicle and it was daylight. Also, I changed the battery in the vehicle, not the remote.

familiarize yourself with the owners manual for the die 552t downloadable on this site.

https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/downloads.asp?srch=all&term=552t

there is a good chance you may have this model or one that is pretty similar.

if your system is working correctly as i suspect, you should be able to remote start it, get i the car, turn the key on and hit the brake and the parking light will go out and you will go on your way as you normally would  if you had key started it.

like i said before, if you want to change it to constant park/dash lights, we can help you or you may be able to do it using the link i posted above(if is that model or similar).

if you dont want to do it yourself (it takes some patience and maybe a few tries for a newby).

it might also be programmable using a "bitwriter". some early RS units werent capable...

if you find the module there will be a black 3 prong jack on the unit if it is programmable using a bitwriter.

keep us posted!!

Wow. Ok...so...boy, do I feel a little stupid now. Hahaha! I remote started my vehicle this morning and, as suggested, hit the brake after turning the key. It worked! Lol. Believe it or not, I've never had remote start on any of my vehicles so I had no idea that you had to do that. That being said...I'm just afraid of the flashing parking lights while it's running after being started with the remote will draw unwanted attention to the vehicle. Whether it be a thief thinking he can simply bust the window to get in and take off (which I know he can't but HE may not know that) or a concerned neighbor thinking something is wrong and calls the cops. Also, I'm afraid the flashing dash lights will eventually burn out some of my bulbs. What are my options?

stupid?.... but you are learning. its when you get the info and have learned nothing that stupid applies.

with that system the only way to stay inside at a distance and know if the car is running  or getting locked or unlocked is the message the parking lights send you....(i guess  steam/smoke from your tailpipe might tell you if its running too).

i think you will find their communication handy. although there is a fuse on a white wire from the unit that will make the parking light communication stop all together, its the wire that feeds the lights during remote start and door locking/unlocking. remving the fuse will not have any effect on regular driving.

like i said before, they can be programmed to stay steady instead of flash. neighbors seem to like that better than the flashing.

i bet you RS unit has a couple other cool features you might like if the read the manual and if someone hooked a pushbutton to the white w/blue wire(or use the remote as per the instructions).

timer mode allows the car to start every 3 hrs 6 times during bitter cold nights etc....

pit stop lets you hit a button and the car will stay running while you exit with the key and lock it so you can run in the post office and grab your mail or whatever.

another great add-on is a DEI 556T. 4 wires to connect and it lets you set a schedule for daily starting times. 556T also can start during specific interior temps once an hour.

what part of NE u live in?
