I am installing a 5900 into a 1979 chevy truck. I have the alarm brain wired in and it is not functioning properly. I have power ground and door trigger verified by meter. Door pin operates properly but no full trigger is made by grounding door pin.   Alarm has no audible chirps when arming or disarming however the parking lights flash. There is no trigger from either the 508 or the 504. Alarm will not warn away for full alarm. Sirens work when panic mode is triggered from remote. Remote will not show any two way indications except arm and disarm lock.
I have switched out the brain for a 560xv spare I had laying around and got the same results. I have switched out the sshock sensor for a new one on both brains and with both brains I had the same result. I was going to try reprogramming the rr
Remote butni cant tell if I am in programming kde as I dont get any beeps from siren. I thought I was in valet mode but I tried to take it out of valet mode and still have the same problems.
So I have run out of ideas and now am open to any that you guys might have.

Show us a list of the alarm wires and where you've wired them into the vehicle, also model of truck.

that really sounds like a ground issue, if you are right and you verified the ground then maybe its a bad internal ground.

That was my first guess as well.  i have it grounded to a ground bus that i am running my gauges, WB, and a lot of other eletronics on as well.

I have run large cable from the alternator case to the frame and the frame to the body in a couple of places.  i also grounded the battery to the frame as well.  this truck has 0.0 ohms from anywhere on the truck to the negative battery terminal.

i swapped brains for another viper brain to see if the problem followed and it did not......which makes me think that it is my connections but i cant seem to find anything wrong with the few wires i have connected.

forgot to add that i can flick the shock sensor with my finger and wave my hand in front of the 508d and they will both light up with a red light but not warn away or even full trigger.  which is wierd.

is it in valet mode? because you "tried" to take it out of...what happens?

I have tried the lock unlock lock technique with the door open numerous times but have had no success. I am now installing the relay satellite so I can try to disarm using the vlaet program switch method but I need ignition voltage through the relay satellite to the yellow wire in the ribbon harness first.
But to answer your question it is not in valet mode.

if the problem is fixed by swapping the brains then the problem is within the brain of the alarm.
