Hello,

I Picked up a 2008 Subaru Outback for my wife out of state, it came with Remote start, and keyless entry aftermarket. It only came with one set of keys, so I had to buy 2 more and had them reprogrammed. But now my remote start dose not work. I try to start it and here is what happends: lights come on, guages blink like before, and nothing. I am guessing I need to reprogram, but dont where do I start? I have the install manuall, and but that is where it ends.... any help would be apreciated. I have checked with local Shops, and they really dont want to do anything to help me or dont seem interested unless I am buying a new system. I have contacted the manufacture and they said the nearest dealer is 500 miles away... so that is out of the question, I would rather spend the $300 for a new system.

recommend looking under dash and getting model number of remote start and of the bypass module

USA Pro rs623rn4 remote starter

I have all ready received the user manual, So if I just reprogram it with the different key It will pick up the new key programming?

My guess is that they used a key in a box for the remote starter.

When you went to get 2 keys made they wiped out all the keys and programmed your original key and 2 new ones rendering the one in the box useless.

Put a key in the ignition without turning it and try remote starting it. If it works this is most likely your issue. If it doesn't you have other issues.

But this is most likely the problem

X 2 with metz35. Subaru always wants all the working keys when they add a new key. Just in case the ADD goes wrong, they can clear all the old keys and add them all back in. They probably didn't realize there was a R/S with a Key-In-Box hidden under the dash. I would take it back to the dealer and try to get them to do it again ( for free ) but you might have to temporarily remove the key in the box for them to use during programming.

Using the key in the ignition worked,I took the dash apart to look for a key box, and didn't see anything, I tried holding a key next to the ignition switch and nothing. I did notice a wire around the ignition switch so I looked to see if they put the valet switch in to reset the system but nothing... So where do I go from here?

Take a closer look at the ignition switch, especially around the end ( key slot side ). There should be an

additional antenna ring that is used to pick-up the chip inside the key. There are several ways to effect a

bypass.

First would be an actual universal "key-in-box" bypass module. Here is a link to the install guide for a

very popular model, the Directed 556UW : https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=568 The

components you are looking for are the additional antenna ring ( supplied with 556UW kit ) and the

black box ( connected to the additional antenna ring with a three wire harness. Page 2 of the install

guide has a diagram of the Standard Immobilizer Interface and the correct placement of its' antenna

ring.

The second common bypass method is called a "key wrap". This is where a working ignition key is

used with wire and a relay as illustrated in this diagram :

At the bottom of Page 5 is another illustration of a "key wrap" installation. If done properly, it can be

well hidden by making the wires look like a factory run and by wrapping the key in black electric tape

and hiding it in various nearby places.

There are other ways to bypass the Subaru ignition immobilizer. Some of them use a transponder

chip inside a box ( still has an antenna ring ) and the recent KLON system from iDatalink. With the

exception of KLON, all these bypasses use some sort of add-on antenna ring. That is what you should

look for and track back to the source.

If a KLON bypass was used, it will most likely have to be re-programmed to the new key. See if you can see any other boxes besides the remote start module and snap a picture of it if you can.

Nice, I will take a look (It will be a few days till I get some pics, I work nights, and my wife works days, and heck no she is not giving up her new car. I am really glad she likes it! ) I will see if I can find the key in the box, or the other options that you listed. Thanks again I really apreciate it!
