Hoping someone can help me with this. I have a '08 Dodge Dakota i bought new and installed a remote starter myself. The remote starter works just fine. The headlights will sometimes blink off and on intermittently only the headlights not the parking lights. I have had it to 2 different dealers and they can't find a problem but want to remove the remote starter but I've been told by auto electronics specialists that the remote would note cause the problem. I can't find a headlight relay or I would replace it. Dealer claims to have replaced the headlight and turn signals switches. Other than trade the thing off I don't know what to do with it. Any ideas? Is there a headlight relay?
Thanks for any help you can offer

Did you connect the remote starter to the Pink/Red Parking Light MUX wire?  That would have included using an 1130 ohm resistor and possibly a relay.  If yes, why not temporarily disconnect the wire and see what happens.  It is possible that with vibration / movement the R/S Parking Light MUX wire is abraded and grounding out and causing the problems.
Soldering is fun!

Yes the pink/red wire was cut and a relay wired in between but no resistors. I've checked these wires and don't see any problems. This wire is only for the parking lights and they work fine just the headlights have a problem. Maybe I will remove the relay and reconnect the pink/red wire and see what happens. Thanks for the reply.

The headlights, parking lights, and fog lights use the same wire if I'm not mistaken... and go off different resistances. I would try disconnecting remote start from the parking light wire and reconnecting the factory wire. At the very least it will rule out the remote start.

As Kenny says :

Parking Lamp  PINK\RED (- 1.13K OHMS)        @ HEADLIGHT SWITCH
Headlights        PINK\RED (- 660 OHMS) @ HEADLIGHT SWITCH
Not sure of the correct value for the Fog Light pull-down resistor.

Removing the relay and reconnecting the Pink/Red MUX wire back to factory is a good place to start.  It will

rule out the remote start as a problem area.

Thank you all for your help. I removed the relay last night and no more headlight problem. It was nice to have the parking lights come on so I knew the engine was running but I guess i can live with out it.

You need to have the resistor in there. Without it you are getting improper resistances. Find the resistor, add it to the connection, and you will have the parking lights back.

What value is the resistor and where does it connect? nothing was mentioned about this in the install instructions.

1130 ohms. It wouldn't hurt to put a relay in as well to isolate the switch.
Relay connections:
87 to ground through 1130 ohm resistor
87a to switch side of cut parking light wire
30 to vehicle side of cut parking light wire
85 to fused 12v (or + parking light output)
86 to (-) parking light output (or to ground if + output is used above)
