first time wiring, viper 5704, 1996 toyota t100

Hello every one I plan to connect a Viper 5704 in my 1996 Toyota t100 I want to try basic installation like remote staring, light flash, and a switch that can disarm the alarm in case of remote fails (no keyless entry). So if some of you can help me by advising me what cables are going to be necessary to install and what cables are not going to be necessary to connect I really appreciate any help. Thanks in ad.

Read this:- If you can, post up the wire connections from the Viper install manual. That will at least give us a head start to help you link the 2 diagrams together. A lot of us tend to be busy and as much as we love to help, we don't always have time to search for the manual and then make up a complete write-up for wire to wire connections. But if you can get us at least half way there, it will save us time. Question on your 5704, does it have a 18 pin harness or a 24 pin harness?

I can give you a head start.  Use a Digital Multi Meter to test ALL wires on the vehicle before making your connections. If you don't know how to test for the wires your are looking for to a search on this site.  The wiring guide are JUST guides, and may not be what is in your car. So test before connect.

H3/2, 6, 9 (RED / White, Red, RED / Black), and the red fused on from the H1 harness to  White & WHITE/ Red. Use both if they are 12 volt constant. Two to each.

H3/3 Orange to Blue/Red

H3/1 Pink to BLACK / YELLOW

H3/7 Pink/White to BLACK/ Red

H3/5 Green to KEY SIDE of CUT Black...H3/4 to STARTER SIDE of cut Black...Starter WIre

Black from the main harness to a GOOD ground.  The other wires are dependent on whether you have the 18 or 24 pin harness.

Sorry smokeman1 for pm instead of reply but I'm new here, there's 24 pin connector and there is where I'm in doubt which connect or not connect.

First: Review Howie's posting for wiring guide info. Look at them all and compare with what and where your wires are.

Plan on a WHOLE DAY for the install. More like the weekend since it is your first install.

Is your truck automatic or manual?   Does you truck have power locks?

24 Pin Connector:  Colors listed are per the Bulldog Security site for your truck.  Still use a DMM test and Verify. Solder and tape. Nocrimps, no scotch locks...Solder and Tape

H2/2 to good ground ONLY IF truck is automatic.

H2/6 to BLACK/ White (-) ...Door Trigger

H2/8 to GREEN/ Red (-)  Horn

H2/16 to GREEN / WHITE (+)  Brake Shut Down

H2/17 to Hood Pin...A VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY ITEM

H2/23 to Gray/White or Black  (AC)  Notice this one is not (-) or (+)   TACH Signal

Ok.smoke1 thanks a lot for giving a hand. There are no power locks in my truck and I don't plan to install some. I just plan to do a basic installation just remote starting, light flash, and a switch that I can use to disarm the system in case of fail the remote. ok another question do I need Relays or something like that? I just hear about relays, bypass, and modules but you know I'm new in Alarms. Thank you so much.

Just wondering how much of the instructions or physical product you've actually looked at? Especially the plug in NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH part. Actually that's a misnomer, it should say SWITCH TO DISABLE THE REMOTE START.

Come to think of it if it fails and you wire it correctly, there's nothing to dismantle except join H3/4 to H3/5 but then again if you're not worried about security don't cut the starter, just join H3/4 violet to it and don't use H3/5 green.

Howie II thanks a lot for participating in planning this project. If just join the starter by using the h3/4 violet the remote is going to be able to start the truck at distance? or what's the difference of connecting or not connecting both h3/4 violet and h3/5 green one for each side? I appreciate as much info I can get because as you know it is going to be my first alarm connection. however I'm one person that I love to learn every day, but I usually do not do anything if not 100% sure so that's why I appreciate all your suggestions, ideas and advices. So thanks again.

Using both the violet and the green by cutting the starter motor wire, green to key and violet to starter side will give you two advantages. a) Starter cut whilst alarm is on. b) Anti-grind during remote start, i.e. in some circumstances the starter will keep cranking. If you have to remove the 5704 for any reason those two would have to be rejoined. If the above two factors aren't a problem don't cut the starter wire, just join the violet to it and ignore the green.
