wiring aftermarket power door locks

Greetings to the forum. I have an 02 Hyundai Accent 2 dr and want to add power door locks with remote. I don't want starter kill or alarm. If I got a kit like this, would I have to wire 2 relays to it? The instructions with it will be woefully inadequate, I bet. Thanks, Doug

If you bought a complete kit I would assume it would come with everything you need to install it. I would recommend buying a reputable kit from a good company like spal or similar. Not the cheap stuff that will break in a monthIf i Can't Install it    I Don't need it   Joe

Thanks, chev104275. I found a diagram that supports your theory. Looks straight forward except I'm unsure of white and brown wires going to open double pole, grounded switch. Seems like if it was relay, it would have +12v fused to it - to bring in big amps after small amp signal.

That kit is for a four door vehicle but will work for your 2 door Accent. They also make a kit for two door vehicles, which is slightly cheaper. You would install the 5 wire lock solenoid in the drivers door and a 2 wire lock solenoid in the passenger door. The unused wires to the other two solenoids would be insulated and secured out of the way. The five wire solenoid, when manually operated, will also make the two wire solenoid in the passenger door follow it's movement, either to lock or unlock, like a master control switch. Those White and Brown wires in the diagram are optional and generally used / connected to a standard after-market remote start or alarm system and it's Lock and Unlock output wires. With those wires connected, the after-market system could control the door locks, too. Additionally, as Chev104275 mentioned, if you wanted to install a two-way rocker switch in the center console ( or drivers door ) you could have a switch in the car that would control the locks and not use the remote FOB's. While not marked, applying a ground to the White wire will Lock all the locks and applying a ground to the Brown wire will Unlock all the locks.Soldering is fun!

I don't see the need for a rocker switch on driver door panel (or center console) when locking or unlocking the driver lever acts as master and performs the same function. And seeing the 2 relays in my 03 Hyundai Accent with Audiovox APS45b system installed made me wonder why. But I see the relays are for big amp draws of system (alarm horn) and not door actuators. Haven't found a current draw on actuators but suspect 2 amps or less each. I'm guessing the brain can send that easily. I'll get a kit and report how it goes. Thanks so much. Doug
