Hi Folks,
I am installing a viper 5301 remote start in my 2006 jeep grand cherokee, using DB-all and data to data between the units.
I've installed, and got the locks working, everything has power etc, but can't get it to actually start.
First issue was the manual default set up, which I went in and programmed it to operate as automatic transmission (error message was 7 flashing lights + clicks from viper).
Now that is solved, but I get an error message with 8 flashes, clicks.
According to the info, that's neutral saftey switch. Here is what I have tried:
- yes, the toggle switch is installed, and I have tried it in both On and OFF settings.
- even though I'm not supposed to have to conenct the black+white saftey wire (because of data to data - correct) I have the grounded that to the frame of the car, in a couple different locations.
- I tried connecting wire to wire for just that wire between DBall and viper, in addition to the data to data connection.
Despite all these different attempts, no difference and always get the 8 click error.
Suggestions on what to try next? Chance of defective unit for safety shutdown?
Thanks in Advance,
Brian

The BLACK/ White neutral safety wire must be connected in all instances , data or hardwire .Did u program tach? Did the module program ? Why don't you post what wires you attached to what and where? And we can start from there !

Check for continunity with the switch, and the BLACK/ white neutral safety wire. Make sure the plugs are firmly seated.  Have you tried to not use the DB-ALL to see if it will at least crank?  Do you have a second unit to try?

And please list all of your wire connections for a better understanding of what is going on.

Hi Folks,
I have tried all the connector plugs, wriggled them around a bunch etc.
All connections are soldered (no t-taps)
With DBall not connected, still no start, just the 8 error clicks.
With DBall not connected, and safety switch turned to off, no start (and no clicks)
Connections:
from viper starter
ground : frame
neutral saftey input - to frame
12+ : direct to battery
starter output - to ignition switch connector pin 4
ignition output - to ignition switch connector pin 3
from Dball
HSCAN High - other connector at ignition switch pin 7
HSCAN Low - other connector at ignition switch pin 6
multiplex outlet - connector at ignition switch pin 2
data to data connection
No - unfortunately I do not have another unit to swap it with.
Thoughts on where to try?
Like I said, I have run the neutral safety wire to the frame.
I willing to switch to a wire to wire install, if you think that will help.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Brian

try cutting off the toggle switch and splicing the end together,(bad switch?),  take it to a friendly local shop to bench test it, or I can offer to sent it to me for bench testing.  Going wire to wire will not have any change as the neutral safety in in the 5301 brain.

Can you list your wire connections from the 5301 to your jeep?

Where did you get the DBALL and are you sure its flashed with the correct firmware? Does the DBALL program correctly?
