I'm having trouble figuring out where the diagnostic wire on my remote start hooks to my car. This site says it goes to the black tach wire behind the instrument panel. But when hooked to that it doesn't work. When the vehicle is running (either with remote start or without) the tach gauge measures out then slowly drops to 0 and might flicker a little while driving. When using the remote start to start it it shuts down after a few seconds because the tach drops to 0.
I've been told it needs to hook to a coil of some kind but I can't find where that's located. Can you help me?

What Brand / Model Remote Starter are you installing?
Which remote starter wire are you asking about?
If it is the Tach sensing input wire, here is some more info :
ReadyRemote info :
Tachometer Black (AC) at diagnostic conn.
Round plug with screw-on cover at pass. shock tower or by fusebox on drivers side.
Audiovox info :
Tachometer BLACK (AC)     AT DIAGNOSTIC PLUG BY FUSEBOX
Soldering is fun!

At the diagnostic plug on the car! It all makes sense now! Lol. Finally a straight answer. This is awesome.
