I have a 94 Miata and I am installing the viper 5704, door actuators, 451m, trunk solenoid, and tilt sensor.
I decided to take the installation step by step.
First I just wire the 4 main wires and the antenna to the brain.
(constant 12V, ground, siren, and parking lights(+) with brain fuse at (+) )
All wires are soldered except the siren ground and the main ground. (siren is grounded inside engine bay, main unit is grounded to a fender bolt)
The remote can connect to the brain and it will 'arm and disarm' the car. (there is no way to set off the alarm, but the remote and brain can communicate now and the car chirps fine, parking lights work fine)
Secondly, I wired the 451m to door actuators and plug it in the unit.
Now the car has power locks and it locks and unlocks from the remote.
I was excited to have working locks but was running out of day light, so I cleaned up wiring and decide to finish the rest of the install another day.
I washed my car and then I wanted to see what the remote would say if I tried to use remote start (even though I have not done any wiring for that part) it didn't start and the parking lights flashed on the car. (it's normal i guess)
but from that point on when i lock and unlock the car the chirp sounds funny. It sounds more like a fluttering noise then a chirp.
I thought the siren had a defect, and decided to go for a drive. I started the car and turn the lights on and the siren starts to make a really quiet (like its under powered) noise. So I disconnected my brain for now.
Now, is this a ground problem? (maybe the fender bolt ground for the main unit is not good enough?) or do I need to install a diode inline to the parking light wire?
Or did I damage the brain by trying the remote start function with nothing hooked up?
Please give me any ideas or suggestions. I am going to play around with main unit's ground tonight to see if that will fix it.
What makes me sad is that it was working so good before I decided to see what happens if i try to remote start. This makes me believe the brain is damaged. I am hopeful that the car wash messed up the grounding to the main unit and that's why its acting funny.

How is the siren mounted? If it is facing up (like a cup) you probably have water on the siren. Did the brain get wet at all? ~ Howie II
Check your grounds. Did you scrape off the paint behind the bolt you grounded to? Make sure the bolt is fully tightened. Also check the battery terminals and make sure they are tight and clean.

Horn was ok facing straight forward.
I found the error
Somehow, the fender bolt was not reading as ground when I checked tonight with voltmeter, so I just tapped a grounding wire and now it works again!
I am not very happy about the range though, it's suppose to have maximum range of 1 mile, I thought I will be able to reach 200 feet through a building but it stops communicating after like 40 feet

40 Feet!! No Way. Where do you have the antenna mounted? I have had remote starters like this one that have reached 1/2 mile.

I mounted it on the bottom center of the windshield... still I park the car in p1 right by the elevator, and then I can lock it on ground floor but not on second floor

Concrete is a MAJOR range killer. When I was working at C.City, just the concrete wall of the shop would cut down a 1500ft range to under 20ft. Get it outside and it was amazing. I would try moving your antenna to the top of the windshield... there will be less interference.
