Hey guys. Quick couple of questions for those in the know...
1997 Chevrolet Silverado, no power accesories. Im installing a remote starter. 2nd ignition wire coming from the brain is listed as "-2nd ignition 250mA", and is a very thing guage wire. The kit also came with a relay, with +12V, and from what I can understand, the 2nd ignition wire can be used as a trigger wire.
So am I supposed to run just the -250mA to the 2nd ignition, or install the relay? If so, I have 2 +12V wires currently connected to the trucks 12V ignition, should I just cut one of those and attach as the +12V for the relay?
One more thing, I can communicate with the remote start, and it informs me that the motor is already running, thus not starting. Is this because I need a bypass module (everyone I talk to says the opposite of everyone else)?
Cheers guys, thanks a million.

You can not connect a 250mA output to a high current ignition wire. If your 2nd ignition is high current (and it most likely is) you need to use the relay. You should not have 2 12vdc wire s connected to the ignition - that would cause the ignition to stay on constantly. I'm sure that isn't what you meant though.
The bypass would have nothing to do with engine monitoring. If the remote start states that the motor is running check your tach input or voltage input (or whatever you are using for engine monitoring). The bypass has absolutely nothing to do with engine status.
