I am putting an ultrastart u1172 and an expresskit pkucg2x in my 07 ram 1500. It will start with the key but when I remote start, it powers up the dash and I can hear the fuel pump but will not crank, the parking lights flashed 7 times and that is tach lock out. I tried the Dark blue/white wire on the tach wire at pcm and on coil#1. it doesn't change anything. I cut the mux wire and put the PURPLE / white onto the end of the mux going to car and the purple on the mux going to ignition. the black wire that loops around the key cyl isn't tight, Should it be?

Ultra Starts are usually pretty good at picking up a Tach signal.  It should do this automatically on the first key start after the two fuses are plugged into the U1272's Red wires after install.   Think I would verify a good connection to a valid Tach signal wire ( verified with a DMM ), then perform a Factory Reset on the U1272 and see what happens on the first key start.  Doing a Factory Reset is the only way to get the U1272 to switch from Tachless to Tach mode or to learn a different Tach signal ( F.I. from PCM ).

Can't help with the PKUCG2X.  I don't use them because the newer "data" style bypass modules are much easier

to install & program and provide more bang for the buck with better reliability.

Soldering is fun!
