Hi all.
I recently purchased a 2004 Toyota Rav 4 with an auto-starter installed on it already.
The remotes on the back say www.autostart.ca, with the code NAHAS2501. Can't find anything on those specific remotes on the internet.
Anyways, my problem is this:
The car requires me to press unlock on my remote in order to turn the ignition in the vehicle. Otherwise, if I don't press unlock on the remote, the engine doesn't turn over when I turn the key. This is annoying.
But secondly, these remotes don't always respond, and I would like to disable that feature so that one day, if I am alone in the bush with my vehicle (which does happen), and the batteries die on this remote, I can still start my car.
How do I disable that feature so I can still start my car with my key without hitting unlock on the remote?

Would be easiest to remove the starter kill relay installed under dash and solder the starter wires back together

if you can locate the module (about 6"x4"x1.5") under the dash, it should have a model number sticker on it. a visit to autostart.ca should allow you to access any manuals you need. you may even be able to locate a dealer to obtain a replacement remote.

So, if I do as instructed above, this should fix my problem? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBZmwZW1ePE

yes that would do it. you could also remove/disconnect the wires connected to either terminal labeled 85 or 86...that will keep the relay from operating.

Ok, and the terminals labeled 85 and 86 are both located in the starter kill relay? And it's a simple disconnection, that if i screw it up, could be easily reconnected?

your remote start is one of the units listed here:

yes,the terminals are listed on the case of the relay. if you noticed in the video, it showed the thicker wires. those are on 30 and 87a. the thinner ones, 85 and 86. 85 and 86 are on opposite sides of the relay. the terminals are parallel with each other. 30 and 87a are next to each other, and the terminals are perpendicular to each other.

Hey everyone.
I just want to give a big thanks to everyone that helped me on this posting. I easily managed this feat thanks to your collective advice, and the Rav works just the way I want it to now.
P.S., I'm a HUGE Ween fan.
