2006 Chevy Equinox:
Hey I am a bit confused here, and after reading over the forums I think I am just stuck unless I get some answers, which are probably easy for you Pro's.
I am going to install a Directed Electronics Avital 4103, along with the Directed DB-ALL XpressKit D2D.
I guess I am confused because the wiring diagram shows hooking up the following.
(+) Ignition 2
(+) Accessory Output
(+) Accessory Output (if required)
(+) Starter Output ( I thought this yr equinox didnt have a starter wire?)
(+) Ignition 1 Output
I understand the other things like the OBDII and BCM stuff that needs hooked up, but im confused on the ignition, ignition 2, and especially the Starter Output since I thought this wasnt needed for the equinox...
So do i still hook the starter Output to the DB_ALL's Starter Input?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Usually I have no issues but of course my Wifeys car has to cause me stress! thanks !

Make sure the DB-ALL is flashed with the GM5 firmware.  As for the wiring diagram shown in the install guide,

remember that it is rather generic in that the Type 4 diagram can support a long list of different vehicles.  Take
a look at Page 11 for exactly which wires are required for your Equinox.

Are you going with D2D or W2W between the 4103 and the DB-ALL?  Yes, the DB-ALL still needs to see a Starter

input, even though the Equinox doesn't need it.

Soldering is fun!

Thanks for the response! I have it flashed with the GM5 already. So the wires listed on page 11-12 is what I need? That makes sense to me.
I just wasnt sure if that was all or if there was something else they were missing. Im going to do the D2D and see how that goes. I have heard success stories and horror stories with the D2D. I really appreciate the fast response. This was driving me crazy, and now I can get some sleep tonight! ha
Thanks again,
Joe

Ok one more thing! you did say that the starter was required to the dball. but on the wiring diagram it is shown in the blue hash marks. But, the blue hash marks say " not required with D2D"... So still confused with the starter output and ignition 1 from the diagram (page10) on expresskit install guide

In the DB-ALL diagram, all the dashed Blue lines/wires are handled by the D2D DBI data connection.  The DB-ALL

still needs to see the Avital's Starter and Ignition outputs, but it gets them via the D2D harness.

If you go with D2D mode, the DB-ALL gets it's required Starter and Ignition signals via the D2D DBI data connection.

Your Avital 4103 6 Pin Heavy gauge connector would look like this ( with D2D ) :
       Avital 4103       2006 Equinox
1  PINK  (+) (30 AMP) OUTPUT TO IGNITION CIRCUIT Pink @ Ignition Switch Harness
2  PURPLE  (+) (30 AMP) OUTPUT TO STARTER CIRCUIT     Not used
3  ORANGE  (+) (30 AMP) OUTPUT TO ACC CIRCUIT   Orange @ Ignition Switch Harness
4  RED  (+) (30A) HIGH CURRENT 12 INPUT RED / White @ Ignition Switch Harness
5  PINK/WHITE  (+) PROGRAMMABLE OUTPUT   ***Set for ACC2      Brown @ Ignition Switch Harness   *** Menu 2, Item 6, Option 2
6  RED  (+) (30A) HIGH CURRENT 12V INPUT   RED / White @ Ignition Switch Harness

You would still have to connect the Avital 4103 directly to the Equinox's Parking Lights, Brake Pedal, Horn, Hood Pin

( installed, from kit ) and the Keysense wire, location shown below.
Keysense      Lt. Green (required) (-)       @ BCM, gray 24 pin plug, pin A8
You can use the Blue (-) 200mA Status Output ( or the Blue/White (-) 200mA 2nd Status ) signal for this Keysense connection.

Not sure if the Avital 4103 can handle the DB-ALL's Tach signal via D2D.  If you can't get a successful Tach Learn, you

will have to hard-wire that connection between the modules.

Soldering is fun!

Ok great, I'm in my phone at work so I'll look that other 05 equinox forum over later. but just in case it doesn't answer this question I'll ask now. So the key sense wire is the blue status from the remote start, to the green in the bcm? And also if the tach will not program d2d, can I still d2d but just hard wire the tac between dball and remote start? Or hard wire just the tac from remote start to vehicle? If this is answered in the 05 post ignore this and I'll look at that post later. Thank you again. Really appreciate your guys help!

Ok this will be easy enough! Just a couple more things before I head to the garage if you dont mind me asking.. So Ill be doing D2D.
1. The keysense goes from the remote start to the keysense at the BCM, and nothing to the DBALL?
2. If I hard-Wire the Tach, I just wire the two modules together, But nothing to the actual Tach Wire in the Car?
I think if I can use D2D and still Hard wire the tach just to save a hastle with learning the tach Ill do that. But I dont know if I hook up just the modules to tach, or if i also run it to the car also. Thanks!

Yes, R/S to car only.  The DB-ALL doesn't need that input from the R/S or have a Keysense output for the car.
2. If I hard-Wire the Tach, I just wire the two modules together, But nothing to the actual Tach Wire in the Car?
Yes, I believe you can do it that way but I'm not a big DB-ALL or DEI user and I go W2W about 99% of the time.

Just figure Ill throw this out there if anyone else is doing an Equinox (2006).
I contacted DIRECTED and asked "if Im hooking up the Avital to DB-ALL using D2D will the D2D work for the Tach? Or do I have to HARD Wire The Tach between the Avital and DB-ALL?.."
Answer: The tach is not used on an 06 Equinox. Do nothing With The tach wires.
I hope this is right Because im doing the install friday night and im taking his word for it! Hope this helps anyone else trying to figure this out!
