2001 escape anti theft pats

I have a 2001 escape that I want to install an Exalibur AL-1850 remote start with a blade tb bypass module. Just want to know if the PATS system can be reset, in case it gets activated by the bypass module not being programmed correctly. Thanks.

I worked on a 99 Ford Contour with the PATS anti-theft system. I had to reset the PATS theft system by letting the vehicle sit for 10 minutes.
There was something wrong with the chip in the key and it took several start attempts before the system locked out. I've been installing for around 10 yrs and this was my only incident with locking out the PATS system. I wouldn't be concerned about locking out the PATS. PATS is a lot more forgiving than the GM Passlock theft system.

ok, so If I was to lock out the PATS, hopefully it does not happen. I should wait 10 min with the key in the on position, like in the GM passlock, or just leave alone for 10 min and than try start it with the key???? I previously had installed the same alarm on my moms cavalier, accidentally remote started the car with out first programming the blade module, and I activated the passlock, I had to the reset procedure that I found online and thankfully after a day o so and many tries I got the car to start.. so yeah GM Passlock is a pain in the behind. just glad that PATS is more forgiving than Passlock.

I'm not sure specifically about Fords, but my personal rule is not to allow more than two failed starts in a row.
What I mean is, try your remote start once, maybe even twice. But if it fails to start, immediately shut it down (usually by hitting the brake) and then start the car by key and let it run for a few seconds.
Obviously if you're working inside a garage, you'd want to open the door at this point.
By the way, a few things to consider:
1: Perform your entire remote-start installation---power, ground, ignition antenna and all that.
2: Get the remote starter to work successfully with one of your existing keys inserted into the ignition switch, left in the Off position.
3: Mess with your bypass.
If you do it in that order, and something doesn't work, you'll at least know where the problem lies.
