Hi. I've been trying to get a contract with a local Ford dealership for installations. The manager told me that they only use Ford products which can be only gotten by someone authorized to do Ford. I know that Code-Alarm makes the aftermarket stuff for Ford.Is it really so hard to get? As you can see I've never done big name dealerships, but I would like too. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Yes, I've installed one of those "Ford" remote starters; it's just a rebadged Code-Alarm. I know that Audiovox recently bought out Code-Alarm, so they're probably the place to start asking questions about how to get the product.
Where I work, we do dealer work almost exclusively, and we don't get any Ford dealers...probably because they like the Code pieces, and we don't carry them. But for the most part, new-car dealers aren't picky about what brand you use, as long as it's reliable product, the install is good, you show up on time, and not too many of the cars come back for repair.
Instead of chasing down Code-Alarms, you might want to simply try other brands of car dealers instead, using your existing product. See if this type of work is right for you, and then take it from there.

Not sure how hard the product is to get a hold of, but we do these things all the time on the road. They just came out with all new systems which are pretty similar to a Pro-F60 setup. I like the units real easy to install and work well. The best part is the PIK's that they make as well. I've never done a remote start on a ford and had to put a key in the dash. Never really thought about it but I can't remember the last time I've done a non code alarm piece at a ford dealer. Might be worth looking into!

Interesting.... I can't re-approach the manager at the dealership until I can show him that I can get the same Ford products. If you've got any leads as to where I might go that would be helpfull. Thanks again.

Just curious, did you explain to the manager that the "Ford" brand alarms are actually code alarms with a ford sticker on them? Also which manager did you talk to; general, finance, sales, or service?

It was the senior sales manager ( who they told me was in charge of this area of business.) He was actually the one who told me that the Ford products are made by code alarmHe
