Avital 4103, Car Won’t Start, 03 Hyundai Accent

I bought an Avital 4103. The door locks work when I hit the buttons but the car won't start or the trunk won't pop when I hit those buttons. I noticed that when I hit the buttons for the door locks the light on the box blinks but when I hit the buttons for the car start and the trunk release the light doesn't blink on the box. It does blink on the remote though. It just seems like the box just isn't getting the message to start the car or pop the trunk.

How's about make model and year of car plus listing what you've connected where?

Trunk pop requires holding down its button for 3-secs and Remote start may have its own method of operation (2 presses within 3-secs kind of thing).

I have a 03 Hyundai Accent. On the Main Harness 9-Pin Brown wire (horn output) to a relay to the dome light (I had trouble locating the horn wire. RED / White wire to the ground side of the relay to the trunk release button then to the trunk release solenoid (tested the relay and it pop the trunk) Black wire to a bolt under the dash. White wire to Positive side of the relay to the Parking lights. Remote start 6-pin connector to Ignition Switch Harness Two Red wires to the one Red wire I was unsure about the Pink/White wire so it is not connected. Orange wire to both Yellow and Blue wire Purple wire to White wire Pink wire to Green wire The Satellite Harness 4-pin is not connected I didn't know if I needed to run relays off of that to the Ignition Switch Harness. I Didn't know what it was for so I didn't mess with it. Remote Start Harness 5-pin connector Brown wire to Pink/Black I had Bulldog remote start connected to the car and with that one all it would do is start the car and shut it off. the door locks and the trunk release won't work. So on that one I had two buttons (start and door lock) would start the car. And trunk release and stop buttons would shut the car off.

You were right about the trunk release it pop the trunk. Thank you Now why can't I get the car to start?

BLACK/ white neutral safety switch/input must be connected per install guide else remote start won't work.

Might as well add a bit to this. 

Being as the Avital 4103 has more flexibility than the Bulldog, you could make a few changes and have a 100%

correct install.

Here's the plan.  Running the Avital thick Orange Accessory wire to both Accent Accessory wires is a bad idea

for two reasons.  The load might exceed the capability of the Avital Orange wire and connected like that you have electrically combined the two separate Accessory circuits in the car.  The manufacturer probably designedthe vehicle with those two circuits isolated for a specific reason and it would be safer to keep it that way.  TheAvital 4103 makes it easy for you, too.

Connect the Avital thick Orange Accessory wire to only the Accents Yellow Accessory1 wire.

Connect the Avital thick Pink/White wire to the Accents Blue Accessory2 wire.Program the Avital's Menu 2, Item 6 to Option 2.

Additionally, I prefer to run in Tach Mode, especially in cold climates, as it provides more reliable start-ups.

Connect the Avital VIOLET/WHITE TACHOMETER INPUT WIRE to the White or Gray  (AC) wire at the ignition coil  or instrument cluster.  You can test / verify this wire using a Digital Multi Meter set to 20V AC.  The reading shouldbe around 4 volts AC and rise slightly with RPM's.  Then program the Avital Menu 2, Item 1 to Option 4 and do theTach Learn procedure.

Lastly, while you didn't mention it, hopefully the GRAY (-) HOOD PIN SWITCH SHUTDOWN WIRE is connected to

the kit supplied hood pin switch.  This is a nice safety feature that will prevent the engine from remote startingwhen the hood is open.  If you don't want to drill a hole in your car, look for a mercury tilt switch, like the OmegaAU-46.  It lasts a long time and when mounted to a hood hinge bolt, there are no holes to drill.

Ok Thank you one more thing I would like to know is where do I set the little jumper on the Parking light jumper spot?

Depends on which vehicle wire you choose to use. Personally, I would go to the Headlight Switch connector in the steering column and use the (-) Parking Light wire found there. It is either Green or RED / Black. In this case you would set the Avital jumper to (-) Parking Light output. Hopefully you still have that handy Bulldog computer safe LED test probe. It will show green when you have the correct wire.Soldering is fun!
