I installed another Avital 4103 on a TrailBlazer this week. 2002 using D2D and a DBALL2. Everything is working correctly except I noticed something really weird.
When I start the truck with the remote, get in, turn the key and step on the brake I get a message on the DIC that says Drivers door open, the interior lights go on for a split second and the door chime goes off for a split second and then it all goes away.
My wifes 08 that I did a few weeks ago doesn't do this and I hooked it up the exact same way.
Wiring is as below
DBALL2 is D2D and 1 wire to OBDII wire #2.
Avital
Primary Harness
H1/6 - Brown to BLACK/ ylw horn wire under dash
H1/8 - ground
H1/9 - to parking lights (grabbed grey/blk wire behind headlight switch) Set Avital to '-' polarity.
Primary Harness
Avital wire | Factory color
1 - Red | Red
2 - Pink/White | White
3 - Red | RED / White
4 - Orange | Orange
5 - Purple | Yellow - I found it weird my wifes 08 didn't need the starter wire connected but mine did. My truck was built in May of 2001.
6 - Pink | Pink
Remote Start Harness
H2/1 - ground
H2/2 - violet/white wired to white tach wire @ instrument cluster
H2/3 - brown wired to white @ trailer brake relay under column
H2/4 - grey to hood pin

Sorry I don't know how to edit my post.
When I say "then it all goes away" I mean the alerts. The truck continues to run and everything is fine. Oh yea, I also noticed sometimes when I unlock the doors (with the Avital remote) and open the drivers door, the chime rings 1 time as if the key is in the ignition and then stops.

All the things you noticed are normal. The door open indicator is the DBALL performing a RAP shutdown down at the end of a remote start cycle - opening the drivers door after the ignition is turned off shuts down the radio and any other RAP (Retain Accessory Power) systems.
The occasional door chime you notice when getting into the car is the alarm/remote start system activating (flashing) the parking lights while you have the door open - a kind reminder feature of modern cars to remind you to turn off your lights when exiting the car.
As I said all normal stuff.
