I've had two, out of the box dball2 modules who had pins set too far back in the connectors making them appear to be dead modules. One was on the blue connector and one on the black. It was an easy fix both times.
Remove the single Phillips head screw in the center of the module, under the label, open the cover and reset the pins.
Hope this helps someone! Talk about throwing a wrench into your troubleshooting lol.

Yes and and pulling the connectors out in a hurry will also damage them.

Was just testing the truck release wire why it was not working, rolled over the module and it worked. The black connector was not seated properly as you say. It was firmly inserted but not seated. Thanks for posting.
