2010 mazda 6 starter won't work?

Hey Guys. I have a little weird problem. I recently purchased 2010 Mazda 6 and there are two key fobs, which came with remote starter fobs. I have no idea who installed it and don't even know what is the brand of it. The remote itself wokrs, opens and closes the car but when I press the aux button nothing happens. Is it possible that the starter wasn't even installed at first? any intput would be greatly appreciated! There are few pics of the remote that came with the car:

Looks like it came from a Fortin system... FSA-206/FSA-208/FSA-209. If the installer programmed nothing to Aux, then it's normal Aux does nothing. You'd want to hold down the key button to see if the remote start works.

Wow thats already a lot of info I have there, Thank you! I just went outside and checked the key button. The car blinks three times and nothing happens. Also holding the button doesn't do anything. I forgot to mention that the car is 6 speed, left on E-brake not on gear.

3 flashes mean the car isn't in ready mode. For manual transmission cars, you have to follow a special procedure to enable the remote start feature: 1. All doors closed, transmission in neutral 2. With the engine running, engage the parking brake 3. Release the brake pedal 4. Push the start (key) button on your remote. The parking lights will flash once & then stay on. 5. Remove the key from the ignition (the engine will stay running) 6. Exit the vehicle. The engine will shut off once the doors are all closed. That will put it in ready mode for remote starting. :)

The short version of this procedure is: Press the start (key) button on your remote before turning your key off and exiting the vehicle.

Thank you guys!!! You just made my day! If you ever will be in southern Ontario let me know! I owe you good beer :) The remote start worked of course.. Next question would be if I have to follow that procedure every time I exit the car? It worked once but when I tried to start it again without following these steps it would just blink 3 times again. If the answer is yes, I am fine with that. When there is -20c outside its a life saver no matter what. Big thank you!

Because its a manual car, you will unfortunately have to do it everytime. It's simply entering what is known as "Reservation mode" in short, setting the vehicle so its safe to start. programming changes can be done, which would allow reservation mode to automatically enables after you pull the ebrake/let your foot off the brake. i can program it for you if you're around oakville or GTA in generalTed

Thank you! Unfortunately I am around GTA area once a year or so... I live further south. There is no way I could program it myself, right? You have to have someone who knows what he's doing?

you can program it yourself for sure, hopefully the installer connected an actual tach wire. Peek under the dash and look for which model of brain you have. Itll be labeled FSA-20X. I have a feeling its the 8 It your're capable of doing some wiring, i would make minor changes, so as long as the car isnt in gear, it will start (using the neutral safety wire)Ted
