compustar ezgo and remote starting

I'm having a Compustar CM7200s with a basic remote kit and EZGO installed in a few weeks. My plan is too install a drone unit down the road and use the ezgo dongle as my non-connected remote to cut down on my key ring.
I've seen the video below on youtube that shows them using the trunk output on the ego to trigger remote start. Can some one explain how this is achieved? I drive an SUV with a manual hatch so I do not need the trunk feature. Do you wire the trunk output to a input and program it to remote start?

That's exactly how it works. The trunk output into the activation input.
