DIY Remote for Legacy Alarm Systems

Hi guys, My last of two alarm remotes for my vehicle finally broke. I have a somewhat old, CA100 codealarm entry-level car alarm which is perfect for my truck since i have no trunk, a base model vehicle with no frills (but luckily power windows) so all i needed was the lock/unlock and valet features. That being said, i didnt realize that they no longer make replacement remotes for this unit and any replacement remotes online are used, in questionable condition. I contacted the manufacturer to see if they have any replacement remotes in their stock for this unit, or any remotes that will work with this unit but arent necessarily made for it, just something to get me going. If not, I am coming to the forum to ask about if its possible to create a key fob from scratch or using a different fob and gutting the internals and making it work on my system (If this is my last resort, so to speak) Here is some information about the remote: -Remote Model: CATX100 -FCC ID: H5OT30 (it shares this id with a "fusion" brand alarm remote as well) -Alarm Model: CA100 The below detals were gleaned from an ebay post for a used remote in poor condition: Interchangeable Part #s 90-REMRAL (dunno what this is) Frequency: 433 - 434 MHz Hopefully any of you guys who are familiar with alarms and/or have been in this situation can give me some information. Also, Id really rather not de-install this unit and install something else/new, the system works well with my truck, doesnt drain the battery, and is well installed to boot. -8track

Hey guys so I talked with a rep from Voxx and it turns out that likely any FCC ID H5O(XXX) brand remote, or for that matter any 433mhz remote will work with my system. That being said he did give me a few remotes which were cross compatible if anyone ever runs into this situation they are: CATX100 (Remote in question, obsolete) CATX4 CATXMT CATX50 (Obsolete) CATX1B (Remote start unit, 1 button likely incompatible) CATX1TW (Remote start unit, 1 button likely incompatible) CATXMLC (LCD Unit, most expensive, has more features than necessary on remote) That being said, I am kinda looking for maybe a phone app that might be able to send the 433mhz RF signal to the vehicle and just turn the alarm on/off that way, might be insecure but at least i'll be able to use the system again. Im still also interested in making my own remote, havent made much progress on that, although there is a wealth of information related to people who are making one size fits all RF remotes for alarms they dont own, I would have to assume the method to creating your own remote would be similarly along those lines. Anyways, hope this helps anyone who gets in the same boat i've gotten myself into. For the price of the replacement remotes, swapping out alarms is looking more and more reasonable. -8track
