I bought a 1997 Mercury Cougar with a Compustar CM3300-v3 remote starter/alarm. It was professionally installed, but the company that did it is no longer around so I can't go to them to have it checked out. I can't seem to get the trunk release to work from my remote.
The trunk release works when I press the button inside the car, so I know the actuator works, I have tested and replaced (just in case) the solenoid on the PURPLE / white wire and it works fine. I put a multi-meter on the PURPLE / white wire and pressed the remote trunk release button for 2.5-3 seconds and there was no indication of any electrical signal. I also tried connecting a jumper wire right beside the alarm unit and running it to the solenoid to make sure there wasn't any breaks in the PURPLE / white wire.
One last thing is that the doors unlock when I press the trunk release button on the remote, so I know it is receiving signal, and my LCD remote shows the trunk popping.
Is there a fuse in the unit or something that could be blown causing this not to work?
