2013 Xterra Clifford 1.3x 4202x? Programming

Having issues getting the Clifford to come out of manual transmission mode. I can enter the programming mode and get to the correct menu and get the unit to respond with two flashes signifying automatic transmission and then it just doesn't seem to save. The same thing goes for moving the flex relay (pink/white) option to Starter 2. In fact, when I go to swap the flex relay instead of signaling option 1, 2 or 3, it flashes at me 8 times. I can change the option but again it doesn't do any good. I've tested to make sure I can change other settings like the horn confirmation on lock/unlock and I'm able to change that. Although when I go back to check on that particular function instead of telling me it's in option 5 (horn off) it will just flash 3 times yet the option seems to be set right as the horn is off. I was also able to change the locks to double pulse so I don't think it's locked out of programming mode via bitwriter. I could certainly be wrong though. The unit was a refurbished one I got off ebay that was sealed and I'm using a Idatalink ADS AL-CA flashed with the DBI N14 in hopes I'd be able to use D2D. Everything looks to be wired up and good for a D2D install. I've done a few of these and have never been so stuck. Maybe buying the refurbished units finally bit me? Anywho, Thanks for reading and any help/suggestions you can offer would be very appreciated.

Are you getting a long horn honk when exiting the programing? If so, it could be lockedWhen all else fails, Read the Instructions

Yes. Upon exiting via turning the key or just letting it time out there is a fairly long horn honk. Very frustrating if that's the case.

I guess I've never run into one that is locked. Can you just lock certain features and leave others unlocked?

After further tinkering I've found anything on the third menu will just repeat back the feature number (in flashes) when holding down the valet button when trying to program it. :/

It can be tricky getting into the menu system. It take a bit of practice and the steps have to be done correctly. 1. Ignition on then off 2. Press and hold the valet button until you get horn chirps and three blinks on the LED. 3. Release the valet button. 4. Press AND release the valet button once, then press and HOLD. You should now be in Menu 3, Item 1. Pressing the lock or unlock button, through the options available, giving a horn chirp for each option/press of the unlock or lock button. (one chirp for manual, two chirps for Automatic. 5. When the desired option is picked release the valet button. Wait 30 seconds for the system to time out OR ignition on then off. System will exit programing with a long horn sound.When all else fails, Read the Instructions

Yep this is exactly what I'm doing thanks for making sure though. Maybe I'm just losing it in my old age as I remember the light flashing what the option was set on right away not flashing what number option I'm on. After reading through my old files I think this is exactly what it's supposed to do. The shutdown diagnostics outputs codes 3, 4 and 7 so I'm guessing it's just not pulling the tach signal from the D2D so I may have to just wire that up. Maybe I've just had too much luck with D2D in the past and shouldn't rely that every feature of it is working.
